Good cheap middle-eastern food
This place is located right off of South St., at 603 South 4th Street. Their food is good, and the price is excellent. The falafel is perfect! Also, try their baklava, they sprinkle it with ground pistachios, which gives it just a kick, putting it over the top. If you're starving, this place will make you feel like you found home, with large pitas, and food that tastes home-made. If my grandma were middle-eastern, I'm sure dinner at her house would taste just like this. - Joy , posted 05/14/05

Excellent Middle Eastern Fare
Give me a falafel, some tasty dolmades, a pitcher of mint tea and some good company and I'll be very happy. That is what I get at Alyan's, who offers great food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is more pizzeria than fine dining, but the back garden area is a great place to dine and have a good criac with friends. It's definitely a great place to go after a day on South Street. - Sean , posted 05/10/05

alyan's
alyan's serves up middle eastern fare - the usuals...hummus, falafel, grilled meats, baba - you get the idea. oh, of course, and the alyan's fries...standard fries made more tasty with peppers and onions and a little something more to make it better than just peper and onions with your fries. the fresh mint tea (unsweetened) is available by the pitcher...go ahead, be bold and get a pitcher...of tea! cozy back room - cheap and good, just off of south street. never disappointed. - smartie , posted 05/07/05

Mint tea, falafel, and spicy fries, yum
When I was taking bellydance lessons at the Habiba Studio, I'd often make my way there after class for a late dinner. Stuffed grape leaves, baba ghanoush, hummus, feta, falafel, and mint tea really hit the spot after extended time spent shimmying and sweating. The french fries with onions and hot peppers also can't be beat, as well as the shwarma. Sit on the sidewalk if you can to watch the folks go by as you eat. - Christiane , posted 04/20/05

Best Falafel in Town
I love this place. And the Falafel is superb, not too dry.

Ask to sit in the back. It's this kind of Atrium area. It's tiny, but it's nice. - Carolyn , posted 10/11/04

Palestinian food
Yummy yummy. This place is great for vegans. The stuffed grape leaves are totally vegan (no chicken broth in the rice) and they have awesome babaganoush, falafel, and foul mudammas. They also have all the traditional meat stuff for the non vegans! Oh yeah, great fries with fried onions and jalapeno peppers. Yum! - faith , posted 10/09/04
