Every Monday Noght at Silk City Lounge (5th & Spring Gardem) in Philly, Magic happens. With international Dj superstar King Britt, DJ Dozia and the Back to Basics band. (Which includes ?uestlove (the Roots) Chuck Treece (Bad brains) Carlos Izaguirre (Jill Scott) Tim Motzer (Soft Lunch) and guest vocalists such as Lady Alma, Jaguar, Jill Scott, Tanja Dixon, Ursula Rucker, etc. This Party "Back to Basics" started at Silk City in 1990 and was one of the birthplaces for many pioneers of the Philadelphia Hip-Hop, House and Neo-Soul Movements. The Party ended in 1997 and King re-invented the party this past Fall. Every Monday night, This is one of the Best kept secrets of Philly right now and the cover charge is only $6. There is no where else in the city where you can get up close and personal with such top notch talent in an intimate venue.
