Great food and great fun
The Dahlak is a great place to eat "exotic" (Ethiopian) food with a group of friends. The food is served so that sharing with the rest of the table is a neccesity. They also have alcohol to help get the friendly spirits active. I have introduced many friends and acquaintances to Ethiopian food through the Dalak, and the food and atmosphere have always been well received. - d , posted 05/17/05

Who wouldn't want to eat with their hands?
Though the prices have gone up a bit it the last year, they are still very reasonable and the food is great.

This is a great place to go with a group of adventurous friends who want to try lots of dishes and don't mind some spice. The menu has a great mix of meat and vegetable dishes and all are wonderful.

Just don't forget to wash your hands. - Megan , posted 05/16/05

Dahlak is the best Ethiopian food around
Others are good, but the food and experience at Dahlak is the best around. The family run business has unendingly pleased me and all of the people I have turned on to the place over the years. - Wilhelm , posted 05/11/05

Never had Ethiopian food? Start here
Really great suprisingly spicy food. All kinds of great vegetarian and carnivourous food. Something that was great about the place is that the food is served in large baskets where everyone shares with everyone else. And no silverware! It all fingers. Very reasonable($3.25 for a Guinness) and super tasty. - SMAC , posted 04/23/05

Great date or group spot
I like to go here with friends visiting from out of town. I'd never had Ethiopean or Eritrean food before moving to W. Philly and I immediately loved this restaurant. There are lots of vegan/vegetarian options. - Melanie , posted 04/22/05

Fun times eating with your hands
This Baltimore Avenue restaurant is worth the trip for the exotically spiced food. The stews, called tsebehi, come on huge platters with piles of a spongy flatbread, called injera, to pick it up with. These stews can be very spicy with berbere, or mildly spiced. They can contain beef, chicken, lamb, vegetables, or be entirely vegan lentil mixtures. My favorite: zilbo, lamb with collard greens. Share with your friends. - Christiane , posted 04/20/05
