Great food, simple decor
Django has a well earned reputation as the BYOB to beat in the city. I found the decor simple, short of charming, but it did not detract from the great experience. Cheese please! - Wilhelm , posted 05/11/05

Great BYO
The wait for this restaurant is a long one. I think we have waited over one month on one occasion. The dishes are different so come with an open mind. Everything we had was excellent. - Jennifer , posted 05/10/05

Django
Its considered the best BYOB for a reason. This place is fantastic and definately worth waiting for the reservation even if you have to make 3 weeks in advance. Food is delicious, and atmospheres is very relaxing and homely - vicki , posted 05/09/05

Best BYOB in the city
Always great. Always interesting combination of ingredients and flavors. The cheese plate for dessert is divine. - Thomas , posted 04/21/05

The city's best byo?
The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the owners nice people. Plus, hubby can cook. When it's on, Django provides about the best dining experience from a BYO in Philly. Excellent food, creative without being weird. Downside: hard to get a ressie! - Mark , posted 04/20/05

Need a MONTH advance reservation. It's THAT good.
Called "gypsy fare", Django remains my favorite restaurant in a city of fantastic restaurants. Well located on South Street, you enter the tiny establishment like a guest enters a dinner party. You're noticed. But, after being seated (at a cramped little table), you quickly relax in the warm sulferish lighting, and modest styling. (The bathroom is awesome...check it out). As for the menu. It will take some time. The choices are unique, undeniably, and several of the choices will feel like risks. But go for it, becuase that cook creates fantastic fare -- the more odd, the better with him. It's the type of food that sits on your pallette and offers varying experiences...like it may start off salty...then get a tad sweet...suddenly you taste a berry...then a hint of spice. It's like 3 deminsions for your mouth -- like a firework that has a surprise ending. That's the fare at this fantastic place. But don't even think about dropping in. It's tiny, as I said before, and reservations are a must. - Elisabethie , posted 10/08/04

Best restaurant in the city
Django is one of the rare restaurants where a flavor is never out of place. Reservations are a must, since it's so tiny and popular. BYO! - Shani , posted 10/07/04
