Great steaks, but...
...damn, have the tourists ruined it. How 'bout a "locals only" day? When a friend was in town, I took one look at the line and we went to Steve's...not as good but no waiting. - Unsubscribed , posted 05/11/05

A South Street Institution
This is part of the whole South Street experience. Great cheesesteaks. It's amazing to watch the line of folks wrapped around the corner waiting in line for this place to open up. What's also cool is how you get to watch them grill your steak. Grab a steak to go walk down South Street, or take it upstairs and have a seat. - Greg , posted 05/10/05

average eats - tourist to do spot
with a corner spot on south st you might find yourself wrapping right around the corner for your meal. it's going strong due to the cliche of having philly cheese steak in philly and the tourists are always on south. the line moves fast and you better know what you want when your up - the staff doesnt want a staller. Not nearly as bad as a soup nazi, but get it right the first time, people are waiting and the line isnt getting any shorter. (the actual cheese steaks are average) i've always been partial to the pizza steak no matter the spot. - Mat , posted 05/10/05

Overrated
For some reason this place is frequently cited as the "real" best spot for cheesesteaks as opposed to Pat's and Geno's. It's not bad, but seriously I've had cheesesteaks just as good (or better) in south jersey. They have a great location, but go to Pat's if you want the real thing. - Ben , posted 04/26/05

average
i wouldn't say that jims is the best but it will do as long as the line on 4th and south isn't too long - Ryan , posted 04/20/05

No better or worse than any other steak
The steaks are only average and the line is usually long. If you are hungry and the line is short go for it. - Premier , posted 12/22/04

great cheese steaks
It's located on South Street. I'm pretty sure it's next to Buster Brown Shoes and across from a pizza shop. One of the best cheese steak places to eat at! Go there with friends, it's fun! - Liquor in the fro... , posted 10/12/04
