One of the best artists in the city
Judith Schaechter's stained-glass windows are amazing. I remember the first time I saw one in a publication to this day. Her stained-glass often depicts some tragedy, or human failing, while the style looks more as if it were painted, rather made of glass. Her method is flash glass: thin layers of color bonded to layers of color underneath, often sandblasting and engraving layers to show through. They are then ounted on a lightbox. Her skill is superb, and the delicate transitions of color contrast beautifully with the horrific subject matter. She often has works hanging in the Snyderman Gallery at 303 Cherry St. in Philly. Go on a Frist Friday and check it out..
