Great Mexican food with some strings attached
This is a very original and interesting Mexican food place in Old City Philadelphia. The building is small and may seem claustrophobic to some since the seating is tight.
The food is very good and very fresh. you can pretty much get any of your Mexican favorites like tacos, buritos, chimichangas as well as really good stuffed peppers. They have a lot of combos and variations so you be overwhelmed. Pretty much everything is good so just close your eyes and choose.
The only not great things about this place are that the service is kind of slow/unattentive and you wait for a while before you get your water refilled (especially if it's busy). Additionally it sometimes seems that because the place is so busy at night that the servers don't care if you are taken care of.

Also don't plan on coming here if you want to really talk with your date/group- because that's not happening. The small and busy restaurant gets really loud and you'll think you are at a club trying to yell over the music.
So if your best bet is to go on a weekday night when they aren't as busy and enjoy the great food without the negatives. - Ahamed , posted 05/18/05

Fresh food
This is a great place to go for healthy and fresh mexican food, but the place is small and gets extremely crowded on weekends. The tables are close together and it gets so loud that you can't very easily talk to people even at your own table. Good food, but not a great place for conversation. - blank , posted 05/17/05

A bar with mexican food
If you're looking for a fun place to drink and get some food, then you're in the right place. If you're looking for authentic mexican cuisine, you're not.

That said, I enjoyed my food at the Mexican Post the two times I ate there. The crowd tends to be 20's/30's and on their way to drunkeness, but in a good way. I'd say it's a good "meet up with the people from work" place rather than a place you would take a date. - Ben , posted 04/25/05

Decent mexican food in olde city
Mexican post has a decent selection of food and drinks at affordable prices. The food is excellent, and I agree with the other review that their salsa is great. They start the meal with torilla chips and salsa. The staff is friendly but very busy. They have a decent drink menu, their sangria and margaritas are excellent. Definately recommend. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/08/04

Best Mexican Food & Margaritas I have found
I love the Mexican Post!

It is the one restaurant I have brought every person I know to, even people that don't eat Mexican food. The food is very affordable. I always get the same thing, because the chicken in their enchilladas and tacos is so juicy, and the sauce they use is perfection. I'm sure the rest of the menu is just as bangin', but I found something I love and I just keep going back for it. Not to mention their salsa. Mmmm, I'm getting hungry right now.

Check out their happy hour for discount margaritas, munchies and some networking with the Center City workforce!
They have a great juke box too.

This place gets so packed on the weekends that you can't even move.
