Great Beer
Yes, the food is great. Get the mussels with the fennel in the pot. Love those frites. But the real reason to go is for the amazing beer list. If you're in the mmod for something different try Monk's Flemmish Sour Ale on draught made especially for them. Great beer to go with mussels - Spyder , posted 05/11/05

Brave the crowd -- it's worth it
Damn, the place gets packed. Don't be discouraged upon first walking in; there's another dining room and bar in back. The pomme frites alone are worth it, but ya gotta get the mussels...any one of the many varieties. - Unsubscribed , posted 05/11/05

great beer but loud crowded noisy
Luv the beer. The food is good too. But almost every time I went I was driven away by the noise, smoke, crowd. - Randy , posted 05/02/05

Staple
When I think of Monk's, I think Burgers, pomme frites, and good Belgium beer. How can you not love this place? One draw back is that everyone loves it, it is typically pretty crowded, but it is worth the wait for a table or a spot at the bar! - Summer , posted 04/20/05

great beer and burger menu
Monks at 264 S 16TH St, has a great beer menu and knowledgable staff to give recommendations. The food is also excellent, great selection of unique burgers. Prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is average, usually fairly crowded on weekends. Not a seafood fan but other people I have dined with consistantly rave about the mussels there. - Unsubscribed , posted 10/08/04

Monk's, a Philly standard
Monk's simply rocks. One of several Philadelphia establishments owned by Philly's favorite Irish transplant, Fergie. A dark, pub like atmosphere with an impressive beer list and great comfort food. Best known for their mussels and their addictive fries. And, the best part is that they serve food until 1am! - Flo , posted 10/07/04

Great food, great beer
This tiny bar is full of surprises. Not only do they serve a wide variety of Belgian beers, but there food is and service is excellent. Their pomme frites are out of this world good.

If you plan to go for dinner, I recommend you go early. It fills up quickly. - Star , posted 10/07/04
