The King of Steaks!
Best cheesesteaks in Philly. Slightly greasier than Geno's and with a little more edge, they are well worth the wait. A South Philly tradition for years. I often take friends and relatives to Pat's to taste the quintessential Philly sandwich (and even sometimes let them order it w/ provolone instead of wiz!). "One wit'" is a must for any visit to Philly. - Scott , posted 05/18/05

I'm a Pat's gal
Yes, when you live near or visit Philly, you pretty much have to pick a Cheesesteak "tribe" and I have grown up a Pat's fan.
The steaks are large and very juicy (ya have to learn the proper 'lean' when you eat one, so as to not get it all over yourself). I always get mine wiz & wit (Cheesewiz and with onions), and it never disappoints. I have had what others call a Philly Cheesesteak at plenty of other places in Philly and in many other cities, and this is the absolute best.
While waiting in the inevitable line, be sure to check out the who's-who wall of fame, a wide array of celebrity photos who have visited and enjoyed Pat's throughout the years. - zebrianna , posted 05/17/05

holy smokes!
i'm originally from pittsburgh and i talked a lot of junk on the idea of a philly cheesesteak. but my god, pat's is sweet meaty cheesy goodness that must be experienced to be appreciated. simple, unrefined, brilliant sandwich. - Johnny , posted 05/16/05

Still the king
Yeah, you could say Pat's is a tourist trap, but those aren't tourists lined up there at 3:00AM. Besides, most people who say Jim's is better are just afraid to go to south Philly. In my opinion, the genuine Philly Cheese Steak is Pat's with onions and wiz. I'm getting hungry right now. - Ben , posted 04/26/05

I like It with Extra
I'm certainly not saying it's the best cheesesteak in the city, but it is darn good, bath it in whiz and topped with some peppers and I'm happy as a clam..mmmmm - saul , posted 04/21/05

cheessteaks
Now I am not a cheese steak fan. I am not from PHilly either that may have something to do with it. I think these places planned on being across from each other to lure in competition, if not it would be a good idea for them to. They are good. the only thing I dont like is they make you say things like w' or w'out onions and stuff like that you cant just say . " Can I get a cheesteak with onions and cheese" people want to make things difficult - sandy , posted 04/20/05

Definately the Better of the Two....
In my first week living in Philly, I had to try out both Pat's King of STEAKS and Geno's - and I have to say that quite frankly - they taste the same. That being said - the guys at Pat's were so much more fun! They're friendly and chatty, and one of them even gave me one of his Cannolis! So - in my book, they win. ;-) - Roxie , posted 04/20/05

Best cheese steacks in the city!
Pat's is a fast and efficient place. Open for 24 hours and has the best cheese steack in town. Although all their tables are outside, it is still a great place to go with your friends, especially after a night out. Don't be fool by the competition, it is the best place to get your cheese steack in Philly. - Melissa , posted 10/07/04
