eh...
to me, this place was just O.K. We heard such great things about it so I was dying to try it. I ordered everything that was recommended, and the lady raised an eyebrow and made us(the 2 of) feel like pigs! Maybe we are, haha...watever, this place was congested and we waited 30-40 minutes. If you're in the area, definately worth a try, but not if you have to wait that long. I rather go to Vietnam on 11th St. - kim , posted 09/05/06

Bangin Thai food!
The food is wonderful, the huge metalwork hanging from the ceiling is a museum and there are always a ton of people here. If needed, they'll sit you with strangers at the same table it's wonderful. - Eric , posted 07/31/06

Good Atmosphere, Diverse flavors
I always meet up there with freinds when i'm @ chinatown. The food is good, but it's also uncommon compared to the general area. It tasts great, because of that. They need better seats though. - jet jones , posted 07/08/06

was ok
when i'm in china town, i can't find any place interesting so i go to penang, but i always wonder why. the food is ok, but not great. i think it's their location and their atmosphere that gets the crowds. - jen , posted 10/10/05

WOW
Never a disappointment, in fact I often find myself craving their mango chicken. These people can even make the seemingly ordinary mei fun taste exotic. A definite MUST TRY in Philadelphia. - Unsubscribed , posted 07/28/05

MEE SIAM
im not normally one to get the same thing every time i goto a place- BUT- i Have to get the mee siam when ever i goto penang- which is often-- its under the "fried noodle" listing- and at least 20 friends of mine have all agreed after having it-- it is unbelievable-- you wont regret it-- also the peanut sauce you get with any satay (chx, beef or tofu) is the best ive ever had-- do yourself a favor and goto penang- get the tofu satay and a mee siam-- you will be hovering above the table in disbelief - mike , posted 06/08/05

best ethic food in the city
penang restaurant has only one flaw, they don't take credit cards. they have a great variety of dishes from vegetarian, to meats, poultry to seafood. dishes are prepared and served faster than you can order them. and don't leave till you've tried the fried ice cream for dessert. - tom , posted 05/16/05

Penang is Fantastic
Penang is the best restaurant in Chinatown, one of the best in the city! It's clean, service is quick, the food is cheap, and it's flavorful. I am rarely disappointed because I always get the curry chicken, my favorite dish! There are dishes for adventurous types, but there are also some of the regular stirfy type dishes for those less adventurous. The only downside is the quick turnaround---they get you in and out. But the food is so good, you don't care. You'd just as well order it out. - Kara , posted 05/12/05
