Rotunda- Best free night out
This place is great. There is always something amazing going on, and it's almost always FREE. I can take my teenager with me, as it usually all-ages, but just make sure you read up on the content before taking children, as some of it can be adult-themed. It is also a smoke-free, alcohol-free venue, which helps if you take young-in's. I love the obscure movie nights! Where else can you go to see The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari? - Joy , posted 05/14/05

An excellent West Philly venue for artists & musicians
The Rotunda is a large venue where you can see almost anything from bands, movies, theatre, djs, performance art, children's events, poetry. They even have a yoga night. It is a space donated by UPenn for local artists.

Many of the shows are free. Including Gate to Moon Base Alpha, an even with music from such genres as ambient, experimental electronic, free improv, found sounds, field recordings, IDM, tech-ambient, noise, post-rock, psychedelic, dark ambient, hard-to-define sounds and new music styles, and neo classical. - melanie , posted 10/08/04
