It makes Philly liveable
You can escape the city, and bike/walk/jog/skate or just wander down the river and back. Or all the way to Manayunk. Or keep going to Valley Forge. The trees, the geese, the sculpture along the way. The kids learning to ride their bikes. The couples and friends walking together. The scullers and dragon boats and outrigger boats on the water. Fisherman. It's a lovely place, especially early in the morning or sunset - Randy , posted 05/02/05

Cycle, rollerblade, jog or walk along the Schuylkill
The Schuylkill River Trail runs 11.5 miles from Philadelphia to Valley Forge. It is paved all the way and a very nice place to bike, rollerblade, jog or just take a walk. There are many ways to get to the trail and for that I recommend you check out their website to see which entrance is more convenient to you. I usually bike from Center City to Valley Forge on the weekends and it?s an spectacular ride. Some parts are nicely secluded and give a feeling of being in the forest, however most of trail runs along the R6 septa line so there is quite a bit of urban scenery. It?s a great trail to exercise for miles without worrying about traffic. Highly recommended. - Monch , posted 10/09/04
