I saw her live as she opened this unbelievably huge concert at the Taj Mahal Casino arena for Egyptian singer Amr Diab in Atlantic City this past March and she was slammin' with a capital "S"! The audience consisting of mostly all Arabs went crazy when she hit the stage. And those shimmies, fuurrghettaboutit. I am sure Amr Diab loved it too. This was definitely the concert of the century. I bought Soraya's DVD's and love them very much. But, seeing Soraya dance live was something I will never forget. I tried to absorb her very essence when she was up on that gigantic stage that night. Soraya (NJ/DE/PA) is one of the best Classical Egyptian bellydancers on the planet today. I have had the pleasure of ordering 6 of her videos, and her determination and passion for the art form, which she has been doing since the age of 4, is unmatched by almost everyone, unless they're straight out of Cairo. Every move is crisp, clean and tasteful. She has sworn to me that stomach overlaps and layering (like rolls and flutters) are NEVER a part of her repretiore, and she had always said to stay true to form, and has never swayed from that. One of the few bellydancers that you can learn a lot from her performance vids/DVD than if she had instructionals out. Enough said. (PS--I highly recommend the Cairo Collection--you'll thank yourself for getting it!!) Soraya is a famous belly dancer that happens to reside in NJ and PA. I am a big fan of her dancing for years and I just ordered her entire set of DVD's from her website called: www.bellydancebysoraya.com I enjoy learning about the bellydance and performing it myself. Her energy is explosive, her technique is truly Egyptian and her beauty is timeless. Soraya is awesome and I highly recommend her videos-DVD's to people that love to experience that gorgeous, raw, real Middle Eastern style belly dancing with soul, spirit and passion of Cairo.
