I've been listening to the PoPos since their PBC years; back when they were just as sublime-inspired as they were by da herb. I just saw them again recently and all I can say is: Wow. These guys have really matured a lot as musicians and as artists. One of the things that I think is most important to question about new artists is: What do their sound and their message have to offer that no other music has been able to provide as yet? The PoPos have finally found a sound that works for them; they have matured into a punkish/indie/hip hop group and their music is such a treat to hear live. They have the type of live energy that makes dancing inevitable. Congrats to them for the new gig with Nine Inch Nails and the tour in Europe! With the undeniable proof that The PoPos are capable of growing in such positive ways, I can only but look forward to how they may still evolve. Not only do The Popos have the best sound around, but they also are the best dressed band around. Zeb, Mike, Sam, and Ham all wear the coolest clothes all the time - at their shows, to the mall, and around the house. They really have style. The Popos are just about the coolest band I've come across in the Philly scene. These guys don't weigh more than 300 lbs. soaking wet and standing together on the same scale, but their music packs a series of heavy reggae infused riffs and deep messages about freedom and life. Oh yeah, they like to party too, definitely my favorite night out begins and ends with a Popos's show. What was with that guy who rated them one star?
