Rock Rarities
Filling the space of a fashion or furniture store, aka plays it straight: rows of rare, indie and all sorts of rock music cds lined in rows. The atmosphere is white walls, with plenty of light and a balcony. Prices are fairly cheap, and the selection is amazing. There's also lots of hard-to-find lps. The staff knows their stuff, too. - Stephen , posted 12/19/04

Indie music fans unite!
The glitz of Old City has long outshined its authenticity, but you can still find bits of true urban experience amid the polished veneer. One such experience is the venerable AKA Music. Joining ranks with Spaceboy and Repo Records, AKA actually carries more music from indie labels like Sub Pop than major pop acts like Britney Spears. A recent move two blocks up the streets has afforded the tunes shop more space: good news for them, even better news for customers. Upstairs you'll find a selection of jazz and, gasp, vinyl! Downstairs you can select from any number of moderately priced new cds, or take your chances in the bargain bin of used CDs. You better keep your eye out, AKA Music's customers know a good CD when they see one. - Alex , posted 10/08/04

pretty durn nice records and cds
AKA has got quite the nice selection of vinyl and cd's. theyre a little less dug than 611 and Cue (both on 4th below south). alot of used hiphop gems and rare funky stuff and jazz. sometimes you'll get a great deal, but be prepared to pay a bit for that ultrarare record you've been looking for for years. but hey, you were dying for it right? and this is the first place you've ever seen it. yeah, its that kind of place. don't go there expecting to find something though, go there and the winds of change shall blow something lovely your way. - bidi , posted 10/07/04
